Re: air conditioner cuts off too soon
Hi,
Can I hire you to go on over there and adjust the timer that the air conditioner is plugged into?
You have to be careful not to hit the wrong buttons so I have attached some pics for you to study.
Please do so. If they are not opening up in your computer, let me know and I will put them on our web site and send you a link.

So far, the air conditioner appears to be working pretty well as long as it is running. I am watching a weather clock through a camera that normally points towards the computer and the doorway.

I had set the timer to shut off at 4 PM to give the battery bank time to recharge a little before sundown. Yesterday, the inside temperature was in the high ninety's at 6 PM, so I want to keep it going until 6 PM.

If the power cuts off during the night, perhaps that would be better than the batteries getting too hot. It will come back on after the sun hits the panels in the morning.

Then let me know what I owe you.

Thanks, Van

Hi,
Was just thinking that you might not have received the previous because of the pics that were attached.
You can now view them at https://www.blakeman.net/_VA/CA/JT/2015/Gal/JT15gallery.htm instead. Scroll to the bottom and click on the 2 pics of the AC and timer.

The temp in there now is 100. Might as will postpone until the AM.

Van how you doing? It's Gabe. When you get this message, give me a call back. I've got some info for you on your automating that air conditioner, so give me a call back. Thanks. Bye.

Re: air conditioner cuts off too soon
Hello Gabe. To recap:

On May 23 at 4:10 PM you added 3 hours to the AC timer so that it now stays on until 7 PM.
(I had originally asked for 6 PM but realized that would be cutting it off while it was still way too hot according to what I was seeing on my long distance screen.)

That made a big difference. It was no longer climbing up into 99 and 100+ inside while in the low 90s outside.
The system did not cut off at night (my original concern) with the computer and the fridge and the outdoor trigger-happy lamps still drawing power through the night.

Mid to late PM, it seemed to be consistently locking onto 1 or 2 degrees above the outside temp. That still made it too hot when the outside temp was getting into the upper 90s.
We discussed this on the phone and I decided to tempt fate by switching the AC to a higher power setting.

Early afternoon on the 25th, you moved the AC’s dial switch from “Low cool” to “High cool”. Though too soon to tell, because the outside temp there has dropped, it seems to be 1 or 2 degrees cooler.
It was about equal to the outside temp until 7 PM, both at 78 degrees on the 25th and both at 81 degrees on the 26th.
And the power did not cut off at night.

I think that is all we can do for now. I will have to think about insulating the place (or maybe just the system) next winter.

What do I owe you?

BTW: I have forgotten most of what we discussed on the phone and there is no way I could have pulled the above info together in my head while we talked, so please stick to emails from now on (no more phone calls).

Thanks, Van
