Rejuvenating
The Front Roof

1. This rounded ¼” plywood border was installed in 1969. It was a pressed hardboard paneling before that.

2. The plies became loose and warped over 30+ yrs. The outer of the 3 ply layers blew away 20+ yrs ago. The residue was trimmed.

3. A wire fence becomes a clamp. Excess glue drips from below the plies after gluing. The tied clamp pulls them tight.

4. The water bottles make good weights where the clamp is not tight enough.

5. The glue did the job, but this is only the beginning. (Also been scraping the tin roof)

6. Drilled shallow holes to get more glue in behind the plies where they are still soft.

7. Saturated with a thinned varnish to penetrate and seal the wood, and protect it from rain.

8. Wood filled the crevaces, then hand sanded.

9. Spot glued and weighted cracks that opened with the wood filling and sanding.

10. After the spot gluing

11. More filler, sanding, then varnished all sides.
(Tilted so varnish on left can penetrate)

12. Primed

13. Top coated (this panel only, so far)

14. The painting of the roof and sides is done
