The Evolution Of A Pond Patio Garden

This big beautiful flat rock has been laying around
for years

Finally found a spot for it

The 7-day timer waters the plants with pond water
twice a week for ten minutes

Eventually, all 3 of these died;
the Eucalyptus broke in half,

the Bouganvilla died of frostbite and
a packrat ate the Snapdargons

The outlet must be high enough to cancel syphoning
started by the pump

A little WD-40 will help the hose slide into the PVC
coupler's black plastic ring that will grip it

A shutoff valve at each outlet allows balancing of
the overall flow

Three new outlets for three new plants

Two shutoff valves barely fit into the small
irrigation box, but I like the small footprint

from a lomg dead Joshua Tree

The 1/2" pond pump hose and the 1/2" irrigation hose
are not the same size. This coupler joins them.

A shutoff valve at the Jasmine water outlet
provides flow control.

Only a trickle for the Rosemary. It would prefer a light mist, but there is not enough water pressure for that.

The Olive Tree gets its first automated watering.
The wire mesh should keep them from being eaten.

The new patio and plants, along side an occasional
stream, surround the small tranquil pond
