Lined
this shallow hole with a scrap of roofing paper & a piece of cardboard.
Wet it thoroughly and scooped in some concrete.
|
This
was another that I thought totally unimportant, structurally, so I didn't
even bother to put a PVC anchor into it.
|
This
concrete footing is only about 4 or 5” deep though it is permanently bonded
to bedrock.
|
I later
regretted not having an anchor; it would have been helpful having something
hold the post in position as I aligned the framing and attached it.
Perhaps
I could have also skipped the concrete and just stood the post on the exposed
bedrock, but the bedrock in this particular spot was fairly loose; I think
the post would have eaten away at it, even with a rubber foot (see examples
in
Posts 14 to 17
).
