The Floor

Due to inadequate installation of a roof extension 30+ years ago, the rear edge of the rear floor had decomposed enough so that the wall and roof it supports were instead supporting it (hanging)

Pried the plywood floor section up at the seam

Same view, but reversed and underneath
(The red can has nothing to do with this)

Punched this hole as I backed into a rock 30+ years ago.
Time to fix it

03/13/02

All taken 03/15/02(+) unless OW indicated

11/21/01 +/-                         03/16/02

Split it down the middle for 'easy' removal.
This little pry bar wouldn't budge it

This one did

The square black hole is where I removed a small panel
to see what was behind it

Pushed the sagging rear back up to make space
for the new floor to slide underneath it

Added a 2x4 to tie the 5 floor joists together

For the record, the old floor (and the new)
measured about 7' 4” x 3' 5 3/8”

Using the old floor as a template for the new

The new

Done. (The line is a power cord.
The bright square is the sun's reflection; not a hole)

At this point, I broke away and began work on the exterior

When the exterior was basically done,
I scraped the rest of the floor

Where the seams were uneven, glued scrap plywood beneath

Holes were doweled. Loose top ply, cracks and seams
were glued. All were wood filled

Pressed glue into the seams

Wood-filled seams, screw and nail heads

Sanded everything

Varnished almost everything - concerned about running out.
But backing out the door I still had plenty left ... next trip

Reattached the partition in the
morning and moved the bed in

Let's get this going ...
Home; sweet home!

Even the sliding door slot got cleaned and varnished (later),
though full of paint dust

Top (right rear) and bottom (left rear), 'Great Stuff' foam in all
corners expands into gaps. Keeps bugs out, heat in

Gap around wheel wells, wide enough for bugs and spiders,
is filled with 'Liquid Nails'

These kept me healthy. (Found my old Marine emblem in the debris. Eileen stuck it into the hat)

Still to do:

Drill for plumbing and electric
Paint the floor, probably some shade of brown or beige
Apply a bead of silicone sealant into the gap between the wall and floor
Add baseboard molding all the way around
