Rocks
line the bottom of #9 to hold the roofing paper in place. Searching for the
proper position for the PVC anchor relative to other posts and a
forthcoming joist.
A lot of
joists will be feeding in from various directions, so need to get it right.
That
piece of plywood is trying to hold the flap closed.
Rocks in
the bottom of #10 also.
Using
aluminum sheeting to form this column.
With
everything pre-wet, poured the concrete, inserted the anchor and hoped I got
it right.
I did not
use an anchor here primarily because I could not determine exactly where the Post will be, but posts 9 and 11 will hold this end of the deck down.
The hole
in the bottom of post #9 had to be bored off center to position the post
correctly.
These 2
images show why it matters. Post #9 will support this end of a long joist
which must be straight so that the edge of the
long decking board on the right will pass right down the center
of the joist and so that the boards butting against it will also rest firmly
on the same joist.
Finally
found out where post #10 will be. Notice that it did not end up centered on
the concrete, meaning a centered anchor would have ended up completely
outside of the post (well,
kind of like #11 did).
Had I
placed an anchor near the edge of the #10 concrete instead, that segment of
the concrete column might one day break off under pressure.
