Just a couple inches down to bedrock here but did not cut into it; just cleaned it.

Aluminum sheeting and roofing paper to form the column. Keeping it wet.

Scooped in some concrete and plugged in an anchor – in line with the posts to each side and the one opposite.

 

Keeping it wet.

Removed the form the next day.

Cut a post and braced it in.

Finally got those footings and more oil.

The bracing on the left was warped, tilting the post, so a block of wood shoved between the bracing pushed out the warp and straightened the post.
